"We’ve been approaching telemetry data collection—a critical foundation for any production genAI solution—all wrong. Simply relying on ‘traditional’ software observability frameworks and assuming they’ll provide adequate telemetry signal for operationalizing genAI solutions is a big reason why we’re seeing so few applications make it to production today.

This makes it prohibitively difficult for developers to effectively troubleshoot and debug—and, in turn, to spend more time building out the actual application. GenAI produces unprecedented amounts of dynamic data points; we need to start thinking of telemetry capture as a specific capability, and not a by-product that comes from broader observability offerings. And since genAI solutions are so specific and tailored to individual use cases, it’s critical that teams maintain the ability to use open, flexible technologies as the backbone of any such solution."
