A New Dawn: Casper Labs is Now Prove AI

Written by Mrinal Manohar | Oct 22, 2024

Today marks a formative moment for our company on our journey to develop and introduce a higher standard for AI governance. As of today, Casper Labs is known as Prove AI; this represents a doubling down on our commitment to our signature AI governance product, which fills a critical gap in a marketplace seeking to better understand and regulate the data that trains the AI systems that are becoming an increasingly ubiquitous part of our day-to-day lives.

As part of this announcement, we will be officially migrating Prove AI from the Casper network, where it was originally developed and piloted, to Hedera’s enterprise-grade blockchain environment. This was not a decision we came to lightly, and it’s ultimately about pursuing Prove AI’s and Hedera’s shared vision of harnessing blockchain’s uniquely secure and tamper-proof nature to serve the fast-growing AI governance market.

Hedera has long shared our commitment to providing a truly enterprise-grade blockchain environment that can adapt and endure with evolving business needs. Since its inception in 2017, Hedera has realized an impressive degree of decentralization while also establishing a monumental footprint within mainstream businesses – highlighted in no small part by its 39-strong governing council, which features some of the Fortune 500’s largest firms, along with some of the world’s most prestigious educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. It’s an incredibly robust network, and one that we believe can help to propel Prove AI to even greater heights in the months and years to come.

Our departure from Casper is a bittersweet one; as a contributor to the protocol myself, I remain firmly confident in Casper’s future and vast potential. The network remains in excellent hands with the new leadership at the Casper Association, and with a newly-refreshed energy as it transitions to a more community-led model that will focus on innovative web3 projects that go well beyond the enterprise AI use cases that Prove AI serves.

It’s important to note here that nothing about Prove AI’s core feature set changes with this announcement: Prove AI will enable a fully auditable and highly serialized database for AI training data, govern multi-party access to datasets and provide automated compliance services – all in a completely tamper-proof environment.

This is a major development in the still-nascent AI governance market. As our recently published Market Insights report found, the appetite for more comprehensive AI governance among business leaders has never been higher, and the urgency for such solutions is heightened by a recently passed wave of AI-focused legislation around the world, the most notable of which being the EU AI Act.

For those who have been on this journey with Prove AI from its earliest days, we’re excited to venture into this new chapter alongside you. And for those just discovering the project, welcome – we’d love to learn more about your current AI governance program (or plans to implement one); you can get in touch with us here

The most exciting days are yet ahead; here’s to ushering in a more responsible standard for AI governance, together.

Onward.
